We are about ready to start harvesting from the garden. OK, ALRIGHT so it is just two tomato plants in plastic pots sitting on my outdoor small size picnic table. But it is the best that we have done in years. We were given like 5 tomato plants and we planted them in two plastic flower pots and they started growing and growing and then they started blooming and blooming and then what to my wondering eyes did appear but actual tomatoes. They are a very small pear shaped tomato and I think one pot is yellow ones and the other pot is supposed to be red ones. But Randy is going to get his overalls, and work boots on and get a basket and go pic tomato's this afternoon for his supper enjoyment. OK so I admit it he is going to use a very small basket but hey it is something we have done and he will enjoy them I can tell you that.

I am a purest

OK anybody who knows me know that when it comes to food I am a total purest. I mean I am a meat and potatoes kind of girl. I don't do veggies of any sort so when I heard about the Great American Food Cook off I mentioned it to my husband and I could see that twinkle in his eye. This is a man who loves to cook and experiment with recipes. So I challenged him to come up with a good seafood recipe that he thought was a winner. I know when we lived in Florida they had major problems with the availability of Grouper so there were times when you could not obtain fresh Grouper at the market so I am a big fan of the positiveness of domestic seafood sustainability. I am here to tell you there is nothing better than a good fried Grouper sandwich. But I digress.... So as I type here, the husband is busy with his pen and paper comping up with his winning recipe. If anyone out there has a good recipe for seafood leave it for me in a comment and I guarantee you my husband will check it out and probably make it for himself. Here is the recipe from the Husband.
Cold Sweet Salmon Salad
2 pounds of Fresh salmon
4 Hard Boiled Eggs
1 pound of elbow macaroni
1 pound frozen Peas
1 cup Mayonnaise
1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1/8 cup Honey
1 medium Sweet Onion diced
Salt
Pepper
Broil Salmon and let cool. Flake Large pieces of salmo into a mixing bowl. Add the cooked elbow macaroni when it is cooled. Add sliced hard boiled eggs, 0nions and the frozen peas (after thawing do not cook peas).
Mix together the mayo, vinegar, and honey together (sweeten to taste by adding more honey if needed) salt and pepper to taste.
Take the Mayo dressing and mix with the salmon salad. Serve ice cold with crackers on the side.
Farm raised Salmon is ok to use but Fresh wild Salmon is much better!
It's a bird It's a plane no it's a monster
OK I pulled this stupid picture from the internet. This is one of the few things we have heard about on the TV for the last two day. They have had all sorts of experts try to look at the picture and determine what the stupid thing is. People have said it is a turtle out of it shell, it is a dog, it is a raccoon they have guessed a lot of things. I guess it is stupid and who really cares. Oh and by the way the supposed monster has now disappeared. No one knows where it went or who has it. Come on now give me a break. What is with all the animal junk lately on the news first the poor elephant who hurts herself and now the unexplainable monster.

There is an elephant in the room
OK, now I have heard it all. This morning on Fox news they were telling about an Elephant whose name I believe was Gina although I don't really care. But the gist of the story was that this elephant is being sent to Mexico to a zoo there to live for some reason. Well some organization is fighting this move because this elephant has serious problems. She is a self mutilating elephant..... Now how does an elephant self mutilate itself? Does it step on it's own foot. Or does it do a Tim Conway stunt and "Snorf" that would be putting it's own trunk into its own mouth and blowing. I am not sure what that would do to an elephant but other than that I can't think how a elephant would go about hurting itself. To me there are so many more important issues going on in the world and so many people that are going to die today for many reasons such as, starvation, lack of water, disease just to mention a few. Come on world lets get back to life and take care of each other. And furthermore Gina behave yourself!

Avanquest Software, a leading developer and publisher of business and consumer software for the global PC market, has released its new and powerful Avanquest Connection Manager tool, worth $29.95, for FREE. This title will save laptop users time and effort as it simplifies the process of detecting, selecting and connecting to different networks, printers and other peripherals whenever they change their location.
Today, mobile computer users often access public and private networks from many places they visit, from coffee shops and offices to airports and hotels. This usually requires different types of internet connections with a variety of different settings to be able to work properly, requiring the system to be reconfigured every time you move from one network to another. Avanquest Connection Manager allows laptop users to save time and avoid frustration by automatically:
* Detecting and storing preferred settings for each location.
* Selecting and identifying the settings if they return to a previously visited location.
* Connecting to preferred settings and peripherals for that particular location
Avanquest Connection Manager enables laptop users to automatically disconnect and reconnect to different networks and peripherals every time they change location, making it much more than just a wireless connection manager. Preferred network connection settings for the internet, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), email clients, default printers and disk drives are all remembered for future use, allowing users to visit locations and not have to re-enter any configuration information.

Belles Waterfall
Today Joy took the kids to Cypress Gardens in Florida for the day. The kids got tickets from their Dad and if they used them before the end of this month then they were good until the end of the year. The gardens have really had a rough time in the past few years. They shut down for quite a while then the park was purchased by a company and they closed down. Now the park is owned by yet another company and they are really trying to make a go of if. They have a water park and the gardens which in years past were so beautiful and peaceful to walk through. They have added 3 roller coasters but today Joy said that the 2 biggest of them were shut down. Now that is a bummer when you take kids there and the best of the rides are shut down for the day. But hopefully they all had a good day and I should be hearing from them just about anytime now.

Burning Bed
Well we got a bed...... If you can call it a bed. I call it the bed from..... well you can guess where it is from. Our friends got us the mattress and the guy told them it was a "queen"size mattress. We found the box springs and the girl told us it was a "queen" size. Well guess what they were both WRONG! They are both only full size and the mattress is about 8 inches shorter than the box springs. So last night we had it on our frame and the frame is about 12 inches longer than the box spring. So our legs were hanging off the end big time. Randy wound up sleeping in his recliner from 2:00 AM on and I finally got up about 6:30 AM with a back that felt like King Kong had been jumping up and down on my back all night. So tonight we are going to try something different. We put the mattress and box springs on the floor. It is a little low but hopefully it might be just a little more comfortable for us. If this doesn't work then....... Well checkout the picture and you will be able to figure it out for yourself.

Lazy Boy
Today we got a lazy boy recliner for Randy. Since he has so much trouble with his knees it really helps him to be able to put his legs up. So I have been trying to find him a good recliner for the very good price of free. It doesn't look exactly like the one in the picture but I think it is an older model and I couldn't find one exactly like it. But, all that aside let me tell you that he is a happy camper. I can bet you that later this evening I will find him sleeping in his new recliner. This is a man who can sleep standing up I really believe but he can sleep much better in a recliner and he will do that tonight.

How to land that Job
Well, I have another stupid job interview this afternoon. I absolutely hate job interviews. The last big one I went on I came out saying WOW I aced that I really think I am going to get the job. Well two days after she was supposed to call me she finally called and said she needed the names then of some personal references. So I gave them to her and waited for another day. I called her and she said she had not been able to reach any of them. I asked about my good friend in Florida and she said she didn't want to call Florida. So I got on the phone and call all of the references and they agreed to call her. So they all called her and gave her my reference she requested. Well I called her back when she didn't call me again and she said yes she had talked to my references and they had said all of the things that she would have expected them to say. She said they said I was outgoing, friendly, punctual etc etc etc. She said she could tell all of those things from the interview. Well what did the bimbo want? Did she want me to give her names of my enemies? I am sure I could come up with at least 3 people who would tell her I was a bum. Well to make a long story short I don't work there. So I am still looking for gainful employment.

Healthy Choices
Back when I was in school (which was not quite the dark ages but pretty close to it) healthy eating was not really given much consideration. We had pizza, soft drinks, cake and pie and all kinds of things that did not promote good nutrition. But, thankfully things are changing in the schools. YoNaturals - Healthy Student Vending is becoming more and more popular. Unhealthy snacks are being replaced with snacks that are natural and now even organic. Kids are not really even noticing the difference because the snacks are so delicious. My granddaughter and grandsons are going to be going to a brand new school this year so I hope that they willb e give a more healthy diet. They really tend to be hooked on junk foods so some natural and organic foods would be great for them.
No where to lay my head

Do to circumstances beyond my control we find ourselves in a situation that we have never been in during our entire marriage. (which has been a long time) We as this week will have no bed to sleep in. I won't go into all of the details but we are now searching high and low for a bed to sleep in. I am very upset about this situation as you can imagine but just need to make the best of the situation and try to find a solution for the situation we find ourselves in at this time. So everyone out there think good thoughts for us that we can find a new bed to sleep on before the weekend.

Bales of Hay
We went out yesterday into the country and everywhere you go they are bailing hay and straw. I just love to see it all staked up and the different ways that they actually bale it. Some of the bails are round like these and some of them are sort of rectangular in shape. As a kid my grandfather used to have a farm and his hay bales were always in the rectangular shape. But I guess different strokes for different folks. It is just something that brings back memories and sometimes those memories are good ones. Getting up the hay as a child was something I never had to do thank heavens. My middle sister took care of that for me when she fell from the top of the hay wagon in the field and broke her collar bone, shoulder and her arm in 3 places. After that my Dad told my grandfather that we were girls and that he needed to hire men to do that job. So for that I tell my sister a heartfelt Thanks!

My kingdom for a crown
The other evening I was talking to my granddaughter on the phone and when I got ready to hand up. She said "can I talk to Poppy"? I said sure and passed the phone over to Randy. Well I could tell from his end of the conversation that she was having problems with her twin brothers not treating her nice. We have told the boys that they need to treat their sister and mother like queens. Well she was t" were not doing that. So he said what is the problem and she proceeded to tell him all of the bad way that they were treating her especially and then an occasional oh yeah and they aren't being nice to Mom either. So he told her that before he hung up he would indeed have yet another talk with "the brothers" but before hanging up with her he had a question for her. She said ok what? He asked her if she was treating "the brothers" like kings. She paused for a second or two and said you mean both of them? Randy said yeah both of them and she repeated I got to treat both of them like kinds. But, they only have one of me to treat like a queen. He said yeah that was the bummer to having twin brothers and only having one of you. But she needed to realize that while she was treating each brother like a king each brother should be treating her like a queen so that was two queens for her and only one king per brother. I think she began to understand the odds and decided that being a double queen was better than bring a single king. So she got off the phone and said she would try it out to see if it works. We haven't had any reports lately but if they fail in their honoring of the queen I am sure we will be notified ASAP.

Fourth of July Fireworks
Tomorrow is the 4th of July and it is a big time for celebration. I think we might be with our friends to see some fireworks. But to tell you the truth I would just rather sit home and spend a quiet evening at home to tell you the truth. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy fireworks but to deal with the crows and the heat and I guess the fact that I am getting older I just really don't enjoy all of the hassle. Call me a fuddy duddy but I don't care that is what I am. You know the saying I am what I am and that is what I am. But I do say to you Happy 4th of July.
