Listen for the bell

I found this a while back on another blog somewhere I am not even sure where but I really enjoyed reading it and thought someone else might enjoy it to.

From a distance, each horse looks like any other horse.

But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing. Looking into the eyes of one horse you will discover that he is blind.

His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but instead has made a good home for him.

This alone is amazing.

If you stand nearby and listen, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field.

Attached to the horse's halter is a small bell. It lets the blind friend know where the other horse is, so he can follow.

As you stand and watch these two horses, you'll see that the horse with the bell is always checking on the blind horse, and that the blind horse will listen for the bell and then slowly walk to where the other horse is, trusting that he will not be led astray.

When the horse with the bell returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, it stops occasionally and looks back, making sure that the blind friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping others to find their way....

Good friends are like that... you may not always see them, but you know they are always there.

Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours.

And remember...be kinder than necessary - everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply, Love generously, Care deeply, Speak kindly.....Leave the rest to God...

Second Honeymoon

I found this on another blog and decided to borrow it. Guess it has been out there on the internet but I haven't seen it until today. Thought it was funny.

A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier.

Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day.

The husband checked into the hotel.. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, sent the email.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston, a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a minister who was called home to glory following a heart attack. The widow decided to check her email, expecting messages from relatives and friends.

After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor and saw the computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife

Subject: I've Arrived

I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and you are allowed to send emails to your loved ones. I've just arrived and have been checked in. I've seen that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then!!!! Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.

P.S. Sure is freaking hot down here!!!!

Watch the Time

I have never had a real expensive watch. But to be honest I would love to have a real Rolex watch. So when I get in these moods to find something where do I go? I go to the internet where else. Well I found this site www.bestoftime.com and they actually offer genuine Roles watches and sell them at a substantial discount off of the manufacturer's suggested retail price. They are what is called an independent dealer of not only new but pre-owned Rolex watches and they can actually avoid the manufacturer's pricing controls and pass on the discounts to their customers. It has a lot to do with the fact that they get the Rolex watches in larger quantities and then they have a very low markup so we the customer can be the ones to benefit from having the savings passed down to us. In checking out their web site they actually have 13 pages of just Rolex watches for women. I mean if you are looking for that watch that will last you for a lifetime and beyond you have got to check this site out. Their prices are really great and they are members of the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating so you can't get any better than that. All of their Rolex Watches are 100% genuine certified and authentic and come with a 3 year warranty and free fedex shipping is included.

Rain Rain don't go away

We got our grandson a Rain Gauge last week and he has had it in the yard ever since waiting very impatiently I might add for some rain. Well last night during the night we got the wished for rain. So I went out with his this morning and he brought the gauge in so that he could read it and mark it down on the chart he has decided to keep. We actually got .7 of an inch of rain. Which I think is pretty good if you ask me. He was very excited for about 30 seconds and then off to do something more interesting than read a rain gauge. You know like playing Wii or watching the TV or some other mindless thing that 9 year old boys do. But the rain gauge we purchased is actually just like the one pictured above. It is really very easy to read which is good for 9 year olds and 61 year olds. OK I am the old one. Get over it.

Rack Em Up

If you are into multiplayer games and you like to play or want to learn how to play Billiards you have got to check it out. I have not played what I call pool in years. But I actually think I just might sign up and register and try my hand at it. I really enjoy playing games on my computer and I do like to play the games that you actually play online with other people. It is always more fun when you compete against someone rather than just playing a game all by yourself. So why are you still here on my blog when you could be having all sorts of fun. Get a move on it and go rack em up and have some fun.

It's the Law of the Jungle

I know that the law of the jungle says that larger animals eat smaller animals for their food source. Well we have the law of the jungle right here in our house. The other night I happened to get up our of bed during the night and looked out at the table in the kitchen where we have the hamster cage sitting. I noticed something that should not have been there. Laying right in front of the cage staring in at the hamster was one of my daughters cats. Just so happens to be the 20 pound cat. I ran the cat off like three times and she kept coming back. So I got the cage and for the night put it in my walk in shower so protect the little hamster.
Yesterday some people in the area were moving and had some free things they were giving away. One of them was a big wire dog crate. So last night I put the hamster cage and all inside the wire cage to protect it from the cats. It may look kind of crazy but hey what ever works that is what you have to do. I don't know how we would explain to the kids that Teddie McCuddles was a midnight snack to Carmela the cat.

Time for a change

I have to admit I do not live in the Dallas, Texas area. But I do like to check things out on the internet and one of the things I have been looking at lately is home remodeling. Don't ask me why it just like looking at what someone can do with a house and to see some awesome before and after pictures that you find. I found some really cool pictures on a site about Dallas remodeling. Now I know I don't live there but if I did. Well... just let me say I would be checking them out for sure. This is a guy who has been in business for over 30 years. He doesn't just concentrate on either little or big jobs he actually can do about anything in your price range. If you price range runs from anywhere from $10,000 to well over a million dollars. So I would say there is practically no job to big or to small for him to handle. Or if you are interested in getting one of the tax credits available for residential solar installations you have got to check this guy out. You can actually get a 30% rebate paid to you either for commercial or industrial use, and all rebates and tax credits have an unlimited cap on the amount paid ! You have got to check it out.

Samples

I have to absolutely live the most boring life in the world. I do not go anyplace or do anything it seems. My big excitement seems to be watching for the mail lady to see if I have any free samples arriving in the mail. My girls used to laugh at me for sending for free samples but there have been some times when they have been thankful for some of the free things I get in the mail. However I sent for a free "roll" of toilet tissue. What I received was indeed a "roll" but there must be about 10 squares of tissue on the roll. Even in the TV show "Friends" Elaine would have not gotten anyone to spare a square if that was the size roll they were dealing with. Give me a break. If you want me to try your product then give me enough of a sample to actually know I am trying your product. Get with it folks.

A woman can dream

Right now Randy and I have little to no furniture. I would love to win the lottery so that I could just go purchase all of the furniture that I could ever want. I really think that I am into rustic furniture and so is Randy. I have several things that I purchased from an Amish Farmer in Pennsylvania and they are very rustic pieces. I have a painting that is of an Amish barn in the winter that I love and it would look great with just the right furniture. But I guess to win the lottery one must actually play the lottery. So for now I will just dream about my perfect furniture.

Ouch Ouch

I tried to find a picture to go with this post but everything looked so gory and well just disgusting. So we will have to do this without visual effects. I decided the other afternoon that I would pull one of the folding camp type chairs from outside into our bedroom so that I would have a chair to sit in. Well that worked great for a while until I decided to get up for some unknown reason. When I came back to sit down I put my hand on the front of the chair to do exactly what I am not sure. But nevertheless I did it and immediately jumped up out of the chair in excruciating pain. Well it hurt a lot OK? I had somehow pinched my finger in some of the folding mechanism and cut the crap out of it. I am here to tell you I bled like a stuck pig. When we finally got the bleeding stopped and got it bandaged it throbbed like nobodies business. But today I am down to just a band aid on it. Which still makes for some pretty difficult typing.

Too Funny

I think I have said all of these things at least a million times and if not to my own girls then I have said them to my grandchildren. Some of these things I have said to both of them. But they did not have Ipods when my girls were growing up. I know that means my girls grew up in the dark ages.

Design it

I remember there was a company that I used to work for and they decided it was time to jump into that world wide web thing and have a web designed. They should have found a company that was better than the one they used cause it was a nightmare. If they had used a good company such as webdesign Denver I am sure things would have been much easier to deal with. My boss was thinking that you needed to go with a local company so that they could come to you and sit and design the web site. But actually that isn't the case at all. All you need is a top notch web designer and tell them what you want and you just sit back and wait for the final miracle to take place. When you use a great web designer all you need to do is to give them the information and possibly photos that you want used on your web and let them create their magic. The problem we had was the company that my boss hired would not listen to us. We would try to tell them what we wanted and we always seemed to get what they wanted. But a great web design company listens to the customer that is how they get the project done and done quickly and quick means everybody makes money in the end. So if you are in the market for not just a good web site but a great web site you have got to check out Notion 3 web design

Full House

Ok so these are not quite the animals that we have in our house but if we get one more animal I swear I am going to contact someone to start building an Ark. We have 1 dog, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs and now 1 hamster. Although the hamster is supposed to be here for only the summer I am not completely convinced that the teacher at the school really wants the little darling back when school resumes in the fall. I happened to think last night when I saw one of the cats downstairs that I sure hope they don't think the hamster is a mouse. Cause we all know what cats do with mice. I know the hamster is bigger than a mouse but have you seen our cats. They are bigger than most cats they weigh in about 20 pounds each. Such is life living in the animal house.

Pack those bags

I remember the one time that Randy and I came home from Haiti. We made the big mistake of scheduling the last flight out of Port Au Prince airport. Never, never, never should have done that and never would do that again. Well due to some problems in Haiti that we did not know about the airlines decided to just cancel our flight. Our friends had dropped us off at the airport and there they are not allowed in the airport with you so it is a drop and go sort of thing. Now in Haiti the airport does not stay open all night long like it does here in the states. After the last flight leaves they all go home and lock the airport up. So we were told we needed to leave the airport. I tried to call our friends but got no answer on their phones. So then I tried calling our great American Embassy and the Marine Sargent told me that he did not deem it to be an emergency. So you see we had no place to go. It is not like America where you would have just called a cab and gone to a nearby hotel. In Haiti if you just call a cab you might never be seen alive or dead again. I knew we could not go out on the street and survive until morning. So to make a long story short I finally found probably one of the very few honest police officers in Haiti and he finally got the Airport to agree to let us and about 15 other Haitians spend the night in the airport. We were not allowed to go anywhere but the check in area. There were a few wooden tables where they go through your luggage if they so desire and the check in area with the baggage scales. I managed to find one folding chair for Randy and He sat in it all night and I sat on a rolling luggage cart all night. Notice I said sat and did not say sleep. We spend the night making sure our new Haitian friends did not rob us or kill us there in the airport and also making sure that the rats did not carry us away. Because trust me I saw a rat that I was sure could have carried me on his back with little to no problem. Well by the time we finally arrived back home I had extra baggage with me in the form of bags under my eyes. I have never been one to use any sort of eye creams and such but trust me right then I would have given anything for some of the best eye cream I could have found. I am sure at that time I could have been a great spokes person for the product and been able to have given them great before and after pictures of the bags under my eyes. My girls were really shocked to see how we looked when we got home. Oh yes I forgot to say that by spending that night we missed our flight out of Miami and had to spend the next night in the Miami airport cause we then did not have enough money for a Miami Airport hotel.

Nosey Cat

I got up in the middle of the night to go potty. OK like my last post said I am old and that is what old people do. Well sitting in the middle of the family room floor was Joy's cat Snickers. She only comes down stairs after we all go to bed. She wanders around and checks things out I guess. But if I go near her she runs back up the steps. I have only once seen Jill's cat Carmela down here and that was right before I went to bed last night. Jill had gone out on the front porch and guess Carmela wanted to see why she was all alone up stairs by herself.

Name game

What Roberta Means: R is for Remarkable

R is for Remarkable

O is for Old

B is for Bouncy

E is for Energetic

R is for Radiant

T is for Tempting

A is for Adventurous

What Does Your Name Mean?

Ok I might by the remarkable, and I know I have gotten old. But come on I sure do not feel bouncy, energentic or radiant. I know I am tempting but only the only thing tempting me is maybe going back to bed since it is still only 7:15 in the morning and right now I do not feel very adventurous at all. Not sure that I have actually felt anything but old for a while now.

Name it

I know that when you go to a start page on any browser they always have it personalized. Well now you can have your own browser start page. You can use your name or your web or blog name. It is really cool. You can set it to become your home browser page and always be greeted with your own personal name or blog name.

Good ole Summer Time

Well it is officially summer time here in Florida and the kids are out of school. So Yipee Yay. I just wonder how long it will take for one of them to say they are bored. I could take bets in the family. I bet myself it won't take them very long to be bored. They have a ton of things to do. They have bikes, scooters, Wii and not to mention a ton of DVD's they can watch. Anyone want to jump in and place their bets.

Yet another addition

Well we just found out today that we are the unlucky winners of a raffle at school. We are going to keep the class hamster for the summer. My grandson is so excited that he won the raffle. Well he actually won it by default. He says that every other student forgot to return their form for the drawing. No we say that all of the parents were smarter than we were. So now in addition to my little Chihuahua doggie. We got 2 guinea pigs, then my daughters each got a full grown cat (2 cats) and now the hamster. So we now have 6 pets in the house. Oh goodie.
