Homework Time

This is probably the only excuse that my grandchildren have not come up with yet as to why they did not, can not or will not do their respective homework assignments. They have used just about every other reason imaginable to man. They frequently use the excuse that they have homework in a certain subject but they forgot to bring that book home from school. They will also say they don't have paper, can't find a pencil or they just plain don't want to do homework. I can't say that between you and me I don't understand their feeling. I as a student in grade and high school hated homework. I mean come on you are in school all day long and then you come home only to do homework. Give me a break and let kids be kids so that they can play outside when they get home from school.

Third Grade Reports

I am telling you that I have never seen third graders have so much homework. The boys seem to have some sort of report due every time we turn around. Part of the problem is that in Florida kids have to take the stupid FCAT test and in 3rd grade there is part of it that if you don't pass you don't pass third grade. It is supposed to be part of this no student left behind crap. Well a student can have actually earned straight A's on their report card all year long and if they fail this stupid test they don't pass. Well the teachers spend the largest portion of the year teaching this FCAT test and now that the test is over they have to teach the kids everything that they should have earned in the entire year. So now they are in hyper homework mode. I think it is horrible but there isn't much that people can do about it.

Homework Homework give me a break

OH good grief I can tell the kids are back in school after the Christmas break. Better known as the "Holiday break". They have started back in with homework out the wazoo. If you only have one child to help with homework that wouldn't be so bad but when you have three of them doing homework. You would think that with them all in the third grade they would be doing the same thing but nooooooo. They all have different homework and sometimes they all three have different spelling words too.

Now "Z" has a survey for math. He is asking us our favorite color and our favorite animal. We had choices of a duck, bear, lion or tiger. I mean what the heck does that have to do with Math???
