Life in Florida

Last evening on the weather they said we were going to have a cool front come through. Well, let me tell you something. In Florida you do not get excited in the Month of October about a "cool" front coming through. Today the high is supposed to be like 88 and it is probably even hotter than that right now at 4:15 PM. However, the weather in December through maybe February or March is much nicer. Now those are the months that I actually enjoy living in the State of Florida. But, during the summer I can actually say I hate it in Florida. Also, the hurricane season is not my favorite time of the year. We moved to Florida in 1980 and went until about 3 years ago before we ever had a hurricane where we live. That is because we live in the central part of the state so most hurricanes would be downsized to tropical storms before they ever reached us. But 3 years ago we got hit with 3 hurricanes that were still hurricanes when they came right over the top of our home in central Florida. Needless to say after the third one hit us I was a basket case. We went each time for days with no electricity which meant the gas stations could not pump gas there was no ice for a few days until the red cross and FEMA could get supplies to our area. There were a lot of people who actually lost their homes. We were very blessed in that we may have been inconvenienced somewhat with no electricity and things of that nature but we did still have a home to live in.
