Yard Sale

Well we had our yard sale today. We have decided to try to sell some thing since Jill is wanting to move to Holland and Randy and I are going to move someplace. We did pretty good. I don't have the final figures in as of yet. But all in all the day was a success. I really get tired of the stupid people who come and when you have something priced for 50 cents they want to pay you 25 cents for it. Jill had some miss matched dishes out there and told a lady $5.00 for all of them. The old bat looked at them and said this one is chipped. Jill said "yeah and your point would be" I mean come on they are not shopping at Pier One Imports. They are in our driveway at a stupid yard sale. There is one thing in trying to get a good deal but to just down right steal something. (which that did happen) Jill had one of those little things that test your blood sugar in a zipper case and somebody opened the case and stole the little machine. Now that is really low I think. She had several clothes out there and was asking like $1.00 each and some old fart said to his wife. I wouldn't give a $1.00 I would only give her $.50. Jill took it but I would have just snatched the shirt out of his hands and said you ain't givin me nothing. But like I said other than being tired we are done. But now I think that Randy and I with Jill's help are going to go back through everything that we own which is all boxed up and have another sale in a couple of weeks to try to raise more money.

No Pain No Gain

I really must have gained a lot because I now hurt in places that I don't even have. We moved everything out of our storage area here to the house so that we can go through it to put things into at lest 4 catagories.
1. Move with us
2. Yard Sale
3. Trash
4. Back to storage
But right now I don't think I even have the energy to walk back into the garage much less to start sorting through boxes and plastic tubs. I know it has to be done but last night I actually crawled up the stairs to come to bed. I am in so much pain right now that there is really nothing on my body that doesn't hurt. But the good news is that everything is here in the house and it is something that we can take some time to do.

Just like Christmas

I know this might seem strange to be posting about Christmas in March. OK so it is actually Easter time and not Christmas time. But Monday is going to be just like Christmas for me. You see it was over a year ago that we put everything we owned (except for necessities like underwear) into storage so that we could make our move to Haiti to be Missionaries for the rest of our lives. Well to cut to the chase we are back home and I won't bore you with all of the dirty details of the reasons why. But back to Christmas at Easter. On Monday we are going to go to the storage unit and with the help of a U-Haul truck we are going to get our possessions out and bring them to the house here. Then I get the fun task of going through every single box to see if there is now after a year anything that I have decided that I can live without. If there is then we are going to have a yard sale and try to raise some money and also lighten the load in the process. Now mind you when I talk about having a yard sale everyone in our family gets that deer in the headlights look. We all know what my husband is like when we have a yard sale. I remember one time we had a yard sale right after Christmas. (The real Christmas) and Randy actually sold our Christmas tree with all of the lights and ornaments on it. I couldn't believe it. I walked into the living room and there was some woman removing my Christmas tree. Oh well he said he got a good price for it. We have always had the motto that during a yard sale we never sit down. Because he would sell us if the price was good. I know the saying that if you haven't used something for a year that you don't actually need it. But, don't go getting any crazy ideas, I don't intend on selling every last thing I own. I just know that when I start going through all of those boxes I will find things that I did forget I ever owned and will have no idea how I possibly lived without them for an entire year. So think good thoughts for me that I will not have to part with all of those refound treasures. Trust me I have a stronger grip than my husband does. But I also on the other hand know that we are downsizing in living and I will need to part with a few things. I think he has some things in storage that I can do without. Joking, I'm just joking I will part with some things I promise.
