Butterflys.

Right now my three grandchildren have bunk beds. But their Mother would love to get them their own twin beds when she does I think it would be really neat if she could do the boys beds with some type of Western Bedding.

My granddaughter's favorite color is purple and she loves butterfly's so i think this would be a perfect choice for her.

Last night my daughters and I went shopping and for the first time I actually saw the European Duvet Covers. My daughter had told me all about them when she was living in Europe with her friends but I had never seen them myself. Now I would love to have one. You just get your very plain white quilt and you can change your Duvet Cover anytime you want to. This to me is very cool. I find a quilt that I love but after you wash it a couple of times the filling always manages to relocate to one corner. However, this way you only wash the Duvet Cover and not your quilt so therefore, you have no filling relocation at all. To me this is the way to go now for your all of your bedding.

Get on the bus

My grandchildren have waited for 4 years and have begged to ride a school bus to school. This year this is actually happening and to tell you the truth it is a nightmare from you know where. They have a bus monitor called Mrs M and she is a terror. I have heard her screaming at the kids on the bus. Yesterday all three children got off the bus in tears. Their Mother was there with me to pick them up and so she went to ask the Monitor what the problem was because the kids said that Mrs. M had yelled at them all the way from school. So this woman proceeds to wag her finger in my daughter's face telling her that oh your children are perfect right? I have never seen such a sight in my life and I have seen lots of sights believe you me. My daughter finally just walked away from this woman and came back to the car because she was about ready to rip her finger off and shove it somewhere..... The woman followed her back to the car and proceeded to yell at her through the car window. So I being the good Mom and Nannie called the transportation department for the school and have filed a formal complaint against the woman. We are also asking if nothing is done with her that the kids get moved to another bus which will mean Jill and I have to walk quite a distance every afternoon to retrieve them. But I do not want them on the bus again with this woman. We kept them home from school today because we did not want this woman taking her anger out on them. I am really becoming a fan of home schooling more and more every day.

What Planet are you from?

We went shopping yesterday and I managed to get a few gifts purchased. However, the only things I got for my 3 grandchildren were just little type gifts so that means I still need to get their bigger type gifts. For one of my daughters I am thinking about getting her some Ray Ban sunglasses. When we were shopping yesterday she lost her sunglasses in one of the stores. She was able to go back in and find them laying on the floor but she could still use a really good pair.

I found a fabulous site where you can get things for just about every person on your list. My granddaughter got an MP3 player for her birthday. So you know what that means right? Oh, come on you have to know what it means. OK, I will give you a hint. She has two younger brothers. Have you guess yet? That's right they both want an MP3 player too. Well they have several good ones on this site that are just right for the boys they are 1 gig's which is all they need at this moment. I mean if I don't have a 20 or 40 gig MP3 player then why should they have one that big?

Why am I tired

Why am I tired

The population of this country is 237 million.
104 million are retired.
That leaves 133 million to do the work.
There are 85 million in school, which leaves 48 million to do the work.
Of this there are 29 million employed by the federal government, leaving 19 million to do the work.
2.8 million are in the Armed Forces, which leaves 16.2 million work.
Take from the total the 14,800,000 people who work for State and City Governments and that
leaves 1.4 million to do the work.
At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals, leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.
Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons.
That leaves just two people to do the work.
You and me.
And you're sitting at your computer reading jokes...

OH OH this means we really have a problem here because I don't have a job right now. So if you are sitting at your computer reading jokes and I am sitting at my computer putting those jokes on my blog. Then who is working????????

Shop till I Drop

Well we all went shopping today and I think we left home about 11:00 AM and it is almost 1:00 AM and we just got home. I have actually dropped. I am beat. But I did get some of my Christmas shopping done today and wound up with a few things for myself too. Merry Christmas to me. HO HO HO

A Man Of Many Characters

I do not profess to have a lot of knowledge when it comes to movies and actors but I have my favorites. I've always been a fan of Johnny Depp. I started watching him back when he was on 21 Jump Street. He was just a kid back then. I guess we were both younger. I really loved him in Edward Scissorshand. He character was so naive and so innocent really. He meant well and meant to be a help to everyone yet whenever he tried to be a help, disaster ensued. One of the other movies that I love is The Pirates of the Caribbean. Captain Jack Sparrow is so suave and so slick. He is able to con his way into and out of anything. I've never been a fan of pirate movies until I saw that movie. I think it's one of my favorites out of Johnny Depp so far. He does have a new movie that will be hitting the theaters soon. The movie is called Sweeney Todd. I watched the trailer and I like what I see. You can watch the trailer for yourself if you visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site. It gives you a brief synopsis of the movie. Be sure to also visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace. I don't hit up the theaters often but I think this is one that I'll be going to see on the big screen!

Sweet Tea

I really like Sweet Iced Tea and I have always thought all you had to do for a good glass of Tea was to dump some sugar into the pitcher and pour hot tea over it and leave it to steep. But I ran across this actual recipe for Sweet Tea and I not sure I want to go to all of this work for a glass of tea but ya never know.

For Simple Syrup:
4 cups sugar (Don't worry - not all of that goes in the tea!)
2 cups water

For Tea:
4 cups water
8-10 regular-sized or 3 "family sized" bags orange pekoe tea (preferably Lipton or Luzianne)
Pinch of baking soda
Additional water

Pour 2 cups of water and 4 cups of sugar into a saucepan and stir together. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and stir until thickened. Turn off heat, and set aside.

Strip tags from the tea bags, and tie strings to the handle of a wooden spoon, near the bowl. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Turn off the heat, and place the tea-tied wooden spoon in the pan with a pinch of baking soda (It smooths out the tea's tannins.). Once it's suitably darkened, and still hot, pull out the spoon. (Refrain from squeezing the teabags, as that clouds the tea.)

Stir 1 cup of the sugar syrup into the tea until it's thoroughly blended. Pour the mixture into a 1 gallon glass or metal pitcher, and fill to the top with water. Stir, and chill in the refrigerator. Pour the remaining sugar syrup into a glass jar, and cover.

Once the tea has cooled, serve it in tall glasses 2/3 filled with ice, with sugar syrup on the side so that guests may sweeten according to their personal taste.

Oh My Gosh

I know I have talked and talked about Christmas Gifts but I have found a fabulous site where you can get gifts for every imaginable occasion. Birthday, Christmas, Sympathy, Thank You just to mention a few. I found something on there that I would love to have for a gift just because tomorrow is Thursday. They have baskets of chocolate covered pretzels. First, I love pretzels and the only thing that can make them any better is being covered in chocolate. Here is the press release that was recently issued letting you know how great this site actually is.

Promises Promises Promises

I tell you I am sick and tired of people telling me things they are going to do for me or things they are going to give me and then they never do it. I don't mean I am asking people for things. I just don't do that. But I have had several people in the last few months tell me they were going to do something and then it just never happens. I had a guy we know tell me that he was going to give me an external hard drive for my laptop and extra memory and then it just never happened??? Then just recently the "Cousin" Mother of the 3 year old. Told us that she was going to take over her Grannies car and she was going to give us her old car. Did I mention that the old car is really a piece of junk? But that piece of junk would have given us transportation so that I could go find a job and then find us our own place to live. Well, now she has decided to keep the car in case she has to put her car into the shop she would have something else to drive. So there goes the car, the job, the apartment and just about everything else I can think of. It is not the car the computer parts. I am just a firm believer that if I tell someone I am going to do something or give them something then I do it. I really try hard to never go back on something I say. Guess not everyone tries to do the same. Oh well guess I need to get the old broom oiled up and maybe I can ride it up and down the highway.

Lose it

My husband and I have a very good friend who wanted to lose weight so she chose a major surgery process instead of the lap band Sugarland procedure. To tell you the truth with the type of surgery she elected to have she had some major complications. I really believe that when you have the option of having tiny incisions rather than a large incision you are much better to chose the tiny incisions. She would have been able to take advantage of the Lap Band procedure since they have facilities very near us in Tampa. I believe if my memory serves me correctly she actually went somewhere up North to have her type of surgery which meant during the process she was not even near her immediate family. I would much rather have my family near me during any type of surgery.

How do you make a Bobbie

How to make a Bobbie
Ingredients:

1 part intelligence

5 parts arrogance

3 parts energy
Method:
Stir together in a glass tumbler with a salted rim. Top it off with a sprinkle of emotion and enjoy!

Ok, now lets get it straight here I am only one part Intelligence and three parts energy. I really think those two things are backwards. I do not have more energy than I do intelligence. The only thing I really agree with is the five parts arrogance I can really be arrogant when I need to.

Place your bets

I have never played online poker but I know a lot of people who do. I know there are many casino sites on the internet where you can gamble on just about anything you want to I am sure. But, with so many sites how do you know which sites are good and which sites are bad? Well there is also a site that is an online casino review website where you can go and check out the various reviews of multiple sites. For instance you can find the casinos with highest jackpots if that is what you are interested in. There are many ways you can conduct your search and find the online casino that is perfect for you.

For the person who is new to online casinos they even have a Beginners guide to online casino gambling . This is for the person like me who know nothing at all about gambling online. I guess one of the advantages of gambling online would be that you don't have to worry about putting on your poker face. I mean unless you have a web camera hooked up and well I think in that case I would just unhook it because I would never be able to bluff someone. I would certainly give myself away.

Tooth Fairy

Yesterday my Granddaughter came home from school with a zip lock baggie in her back pack. She proudly announced that she had lost a tooth in school. She went to her bed immediately and put it under one of her many pillows on her bed. About 15 minutes she went back to check and was very disappointed to discover she still had a baggie with a tooth in it. We were able to remind her that the tooth fairy never comes in the daylight hours. We have also convinced her that on a few mornings when she still found the said tooth under her pillow that it was due to excessive traffic and the fairy was delayed and therefore could only come that next evening. Well at 1:30 this morning my daughter said the said granddaughter was awake rummaging through her many pillows trying to find her money. My daughter knew it was there because she had gotten a sighting on the said fairy. It took her several minutes to calm down from being upset at thinking she had been missed to finally discover she had indeed received her payment. She was very happy to find per her words that she had a "Lincoln" I sure don't remember being 9 years old and knowing a $5.00 bill was a Lincoln.

Set it up

On my last job I finally convinced my employer that there were more ways to sell our products than just to the through retail stores. They finally realized that the internet was a huge market that they had not even begun to explore. So, part of my job became to get our web site set up for internet shopping. After having all of our products listed on the web site we had to set up a shopping cart so that the customers could actually make their purchases and place them in their cart. Until that time I knew nothing about shopping cart software. The only shopping cart I knew anything about was at the grocery store and how many 12 packs of diet soda would fit into said cart.

We finally found the e-commerce software that we needed and before you knew it we were selling product on the internet. Things were slow to begin with but the company had a very good product and with some work, it was becoming another very good source of sales for the company.

Let the Shoppping Begin

I officially started my Christmas shopping today. I purchased a gift online. I cannot say who it was for and what it is because said person just might read my blog and then where would I be? I can tell you I would be shopping for a new gift that is where I would be. But with my lack of transportation situation that I find myself in shopping on the internet is the only way for me to go. But, to tell you the truth I am actually liking this I can sit here in my comfy PJ's and drink my diet soda and just shop to my hearts content. I may never get dressed again. Well at least until it is time to go to the bus stop to get the grandkids. I can't see me scuffing down the street in my PJ's and slippers.

I'm a Smorty!

Well, I have finally accomplished a major task that I set out to accomplish. My blog was accepted by Smorty. I am very happy about the opportunity to get paid for blogging. I'll be very honest...the thought of finally being able to bring some more income into the household is a weight off of my shoulders. I'm not expecting to be a millionaire by any means, but this will certainly help out a great deal. The ability to advertise on blogs is a fairly new concept for me. But I am seeing that the idea of blog advertising is really a growing field.

My husband and I are in need of a new vehicle. We sold our truck before we moved to Haiti to work as a missionary so when we came back we had no vehicle. So the money I earn from Smorty will be put towards getting ourselves a new truck. Plus the day to day things that everybody needs like Diet Soda. I know it is going to take a while to accomplish this goal but I have the faith that I can do it. Thanks Smorty !

ER Visit

Well, it finally happened the three year old in the house had to make a visit (with his Mother) to the ER. She left him and his 16 month old sister in the bathtub. We have told her a million times that they cannot be left alone in the tub. But do you think she listens NOPE she doesn't. So she was in her room doing what ever it is she does instead of watching her children. He was doing what he always does best and that is doing what he shouldn't do which this time was to jump around in the tub. I was upstairs and she came to the bottom of the steps to see if Jill or I were able to come down said he got hurt and she had blood. So we both went down and he had hit his chin on the side of the tub and split it open. She wanted to know if we thought he needed stitches which we both said we thought he did. So she took him to the ER and what they wound up doing was to use something called durabond. So basically they super glued his chin together. I am sure she will watch him carefully for about the next hour or so and then will just let him run wild again. She never seems to learn.

What are the odds

I have an older laptop that I have in storage and I have been thinking about tweaking it some and giving it to my husband for a Christmas present. I know this might not sound like I am willing to share my own personal laptop with him. But you have to understand his knowledge of computers you could put on the head of a pin and still have room to rent out space for a major sports event. Which in turn makes me think when I do the laptop for him I could set him up with the new social network for sports enthusiasts. Here he can get his favorite sports picks .

OddsBreakers.com is the place for all sports enthusiasts to meet and greet others with the same interests. They can share their football picks and basketball picks and even participate in contests. It will be a great way to keep him busy and out of my hair.

What Holiday are you?

You Are Christmas

More than most people, you are able to find magic in life's small moments.

Traditions mean a lot to you, and you tend to be quite nostalgic.

You are a giving, kind person who really understands the true meaning of holidays.

You inspire others to be as altruistic and caring as you are.

What makes you celebrate: Tradition and a generous spirit

At holiday get togethers, you do best as: The storyteller. You like to recount memories with everyone.

On a holiday, you're the one most likely to: Give a gift to everyone you know

I really do love Christmas. I love it most when I have enough money to be able to go out and buy the kinds of gifts for everyone that I know they will really love. This Christmas is going to be a smaller Christmas gift wise. But, I think sometimes that is really much better. There is too much attention put toward buying and not toward the real meaning of Christmas. Jesus is the reason for the season.

Take Aim

I am busy right now trying to think of things to get my grandchildren for Christmas. I know something that would drive my Daughter nuts and the kids would probably love it but I am not sure they are really ready for it. But if I had my way they would still be playing with baby toys. What I think I would like to get them is some cheap paintball guns. This way they could have a blast and shoot paint at each other. I am not sure about my one grandson I will call him "N" he is a neat freak. He can't stand to be dirty so maybe the enjoyment would be all ours just to see him covered in various colors of paint. You can order what you need and get free shipping. I am really thinking seriously about doing this. When the kids were little I used to get them noisy toys for Christmas and Birthdays just to drive my daughter crazy. That didn't work so maybe getting them some Tippmann 98 Custom paintball guns would just do the trick this year. I know I am so mean but I just can't help it. I can remember when she was little telling her that I was wishing she would have a child just like her and well now she had 3 of them. Revenge is so sweet.

The day after

Well today is the day after Thanksgiving. I have not done anything at all today except to try to find work on the computer and so far it is almost 2:30 PM and I haven't found anything yet. So I have been pretty unproductive thus far. I need to put clean clothes away and don't have anyplace to put them. So guess they could stay in my hamper another day. We did have a good dinner yesterday and everybody survived. Meaning we didn't kill off anybody. The three year old was rather on our nerves all day long. He was in the garage yesterday with his mother while she was doing some laundry and he always gets into things when she allows him out there with her because she never watches him at all. Well later in the evening one of us went into the garage and the smell of gas just about knocked you over. Yeah the three year old had gotten into the garage and found the gas can for the lawn mower in the very front corner and poured a puddle of gas out. With a gas water heater and a gas dryer it is a miracle that he did not set the house on fire. I tell you the child really worries me what he is capable of doing.

Let's hear it for Garcia!

OK, now something has finally gone right. They did not kill off Garcia in Criminal Minds. I can't believe that we were left hanging for a week to find out that she survived the shooting. But finally we found out this week that she survived it and her surgery. Man I sound like someone who is obsessed by her TV programs. Guess it shows I don't have much of a life. I really need to get a hobby besides TV.

Nite Nite Sleep Tight

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day and I am ready to go into hiding and not come out until New Years. I have a love hate relationship with the holidays. I love them yet I guess I hate all of the hype that goes along with them. Like Thanksgiving, we have already started making preparations for tomorrow and that doesn't count the couple of hours that we spent at the super market getting all of the food that was needed. So now tomorrow we will have a total of 11 people here in the house and the kitchen in this house is so small you can't whip a gnat in it. Not to mention that we have to deal with the psycho 3 year old all day long while we are trying to cook and listen to him scream at his mother and his mother scream at him. I have never heard anything like it. His whole attitude changes the minute his mother walks into the house everyday. All day long there are minor issues that are pretty normal for a 3 year old but when she comes home it is Katie bar the door. Plus his mother has invited her Grandmother tomorrow and although I don't really have a problem with that I am not good around strangers just never have been and I have never met her. Guess Emily Post would frown if I just hid all day in my room. Yeah she would. So guess I will just have to grin and bear it.

The Dating Game

Dating has certainly changed a lot since I last went on a date. We won't discuss how long ago that was but suffice to say my husband and I have been married 40 years. Wait...I just told you. Oh never mind. Now a days, people basically use the internet as a catalyst in finding Mr. or Miss Wonderful. There is a dating site for every particular interest group out there. There are dating sites for senior citizens. There are dating sites for interracial couples, Jewish individuals, Christian dating and there is even a dating site for Goth singles. I don't know anything about Goth people but I guess they deserve their own dating venue as well. Back when I was playing the dating game, we always dated who we met in school. We went to football games and out to eat afterwards or to the movies. We all basically got married shortly after graduation. That's just how it was done. Now couples seem to date for what seems like forever before ever making a commitment towards marriage. Sometimes I think that's a good idea. Too many people jump into marriage far sooner than what they should. I guess I'm old fashioned in a lot of ways but I can also see how the times have changed and I've also changed my view on a lot of things. I'm just glad I don't have to play the dating game anymore. I'll leave that up to the younger crowd.

Preparations for Turkey Day

beef.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

We will be starting to fix our Thanksgiving Dinner today.  I am going to make a large batch of homemade noodles this morning and let them dry during the day on the kitchen table.  I think Jill is going to make the deserts either this afternoon or this evening.  She is making a large bowl of banana pudding and Sex in the Pan.  We decided to go for untraditional deserts this year.  I love pumpkin pie but just like everybody else wasn't really in the mood for it for some reason. Tomorrow morning we will get up very very early and get our Turkey in the oven.  We learned  to cook  turkey when we were in Tennessee living and have made it like this ever sense.  We take the turkey and cover it all over with mayonnaise then we put it in a paper grocery store bag and put it in the oven.  We set the temperature per the instructions on the turkey package and for the time listed.  You never open the paper bag to check on the turkey and you never have to baste it.  When the time is up you take the turkey out of the oven and remove the bag and you have the most beautiful and moist turkey you have ever eaten.  The bag soaks up just the grease from the broth and you are left with very rich broth in the bottom of the pan.  They call this in Tennessee cooking a turkey in a poke.  I guarantee that if you ever cook a turkey this way you will never go back to any other method.  It is to die for.

Take me out to the Ballgame

I have never been to to Arizona but if I ever get there in the spring I would love to get SF Giants Spring Training tickets. I was raised on Baseball, peanuts, hot dogs and Cokes. We would see any team that played against the St. Louis Cardinals. We lived in Southern Indiana but the drive to St. Louis was not far and we would go there for the entire weekend and catch a couple of games and usually do some shopping for school clothes while we were there. Now I live in Central Florida and we have attended many of the Spring Training games for the Boston Red Sox team. This was something that we tried to do for our children so they would have some of the same memories that I had from my childhood. Baseball is as American as Apple Pie and I love them both.

The Burglar

A burglar crept into a huge, luxurious house
one night. Shining his flashlight on the floor
in the dark, he heard a voice saying,
"Jesus is watching you."
He looked around nervously, shook his head,
and kept looking for valuables. He again heard,
"Jesus is watching you."
This time, he shone his light all over, and it
finally rested on a parrot.
He asked, "Did you say that?" The parrot admitted
that it had. "I'm just trying to warn you."
The burglar said, "Warn me, huh? Who are you?
What's your name?"
"Moses," replied the bird.
"Well, what kind of stupid people would name
a parrot 'Moses'?"
The bird answered, "The same folks who would
name a Rottweiler "Jesus'.!

Boy guess that is a good name for a Rottweiler. I will have to remember it if I ever get another guard type dog. We have never had a Rottweiler but we have had several German Shepherds over the years.

Need a Vacation

We are trying to talk Jill's best friend Tracey into coming over here for a vacation.  Jill has gone to see her several times and Tracey has always been so kind to Jill.  We just want to have her come here so we can show her a good time US style.  Right now the airlines all seem to have holiday offers. However, I'm afraid Tracy is more apt to looking into flights to Melbourne as she's from Australia and she's really wanting to go back home for a visit and see her family.   I do really think that someday though we will get her to come here for a visit.

  24. I am thankful that I have actually started making money on my blog
  25. I am thankful that the electric bill for the house actually went down $100.00 this time due to turning the AC off (It has been cooler out lately)
OK I am gonna quit I know I could think of a lot of other things but don't want to totally bore everybody

A Bit Short

With Christmas just about a month away cash can really be a little short right now. I know my daughter has just changed jobs and is really struggling to keep the bills paid and to have Christmas presents for her three children. Being a single Mother is not always easy. When you are married there are two of you working together to be sure the kids have the things they want under the tree when they wake up Christmas morning. She can get a little help now and so can you by getting Payday loans. You can get short term loans for anything from $100.00 to $1,500.00. It is quick and easy and you can have the money deposited directly into your account and repaid on mutually agreed dates. There is also a loan calculator that you can use to actually see beforehand how much interest you will be paying on your advance. This way you don't have any huge shock when it is time to repay the loan.

Almost ready for Turkey Day

We went to the store tonight and got everything that we need for Thanksgiving Dinner. Every year we say we are not going to make as much food as we did the year before and the year before that and so on and so forth. But we just can't help it we always make the same things and we always seem to make the same amounts of everything. We seem to cook for Holiday's by the wash tub. But we do eat the leftovers and I really enjoy eating the ones from Thanksgiving. They are so yummy in the Tummy. So I guess it isn't so bad what we wind up spending as long as things are not wasted.

Hoping to Freeze Away Years of Pain

My husband is not a very athletic type person these days. Maybe that has a lot to do with the fact that he is 60 years old now. I don't know where the years have gone actually. It seems just like yesterday when I met him in high school this is what he looked like back then. Now you know why I fell so hard for him. I met him in his Sophomore year and my Freshman year. We were sitting all the way across the band room from each other and he spied me first. I haven't really seen him playing sports much since we got married but he did play football during his freshman year of high school and during that time he injured his knee when he got tackled. After that he transferred high schools and then was given the choice of football or playing his trombone in the marching band. Since he decided that he was less likely to get tackled in the band and he has never been one much for pain. He chose to pursue his music talents which was a good choice for him. He got a college scholarship to college and well the Vietnam war kind of ended that he served in an Army Band stationed at Fort Knox. But now years later that old football injury is coming back to haunt him. He really has a terrible time with his knees. Some days are worse than others. He has painful knee joints, which are his biggest problem but like everyone his age he also suffers from time to time with sore muscles and back pain. I can tell you that he could really benefit from a years supply of Freeze It Gel. I really hate to see him suffer like he does some days. He has the hardest time getting up and down stairs and has to come up every night to go to bed. I know that Freeze It would really help with his knee pain as well as all of the other aches and pains a man of his age has on any given day.

Two dreaded words

Well, today is the first actual school day of Thanksgiving and already we have one child saying "I'm bored". Actually I thought it would be about Wednesday before we heard these dreaded words but we heard them today. I came out of my room and my granddaughter was sitting on the stairs and I asked her why she was sitting on the steps and she said I'm not. Now I know I am getting old but I am not blind so I said ok so why does it just appear you are sitting on the steps but not really there. She said those two little words. So now it is all downhill from here and we still have 6 days to go.

Grind me a pound

Well Jill is going to try to learn to drive a stick shift car. Again... She said she tried when she was living in California and her boyfriend back then tried to teach her how. I really hoped he had Torrance insurance because she really has a hard time with the clutch and accelerator. I keep telling her it is like riding a bicycle. Down on the clutch and up on the accelerator. Then down on the accelerator and up on the clutch. But she just doesn't seem to get the idea of it. Rest assured she is a very smart person and I am sure she will accomplish it. She just has to make up her mind that she wants to do it. She is like me in that aspect. If she wants to do something bad enough she will figure out a way to do it. She just needs motivation. Anybody out there want to give her a car that is a stick shift?

Thanksgiving School Break

Yippee!!! The kids are out of school all this week for Thanksgiving break. So that means 5 kids in the house for and entire 9 days straight. We are going to try to have some structure to the week. Jill and I have already decided that they are not just going to run wild through out the house everyday. So our next taks is to decide things that they can do that will keep them occupied and not like wild indians. I am trying to make a list of things for them to do. Here is what I have come up so far. If anyone has any suggestions let us know and we will gladly take them under consideration.

1. Movie Time
2. Classes on learning to Tie their shoes
3. Computer time to do the web pages from school for the stupid Florida FCAT test
4. Cleaning their room (yes this is a daily task)
5. Play time outside.

OK, that is all I have right now and that should get us through about 3 hours of a day. Oh man, it is going to be a long 9 days. I think I will just shut my door and lock it.

Peaceful Sounds

I have always wanted a fountain for the house so I have been searching online and have found a fabulous site with all sorts of Wall Fountains. They have all sorts of them and a lot of them require no special plumbing or electrical work. You just hang them on the wall and you are ready to go. Now that is the kind I need. We are renting our house and somehow I don't think the landlord would appreciate us knocking a hole in the wall for water and electric to a fountain on the wall. I found the perfect one I want it is called Changing Leaves. This way I can have the look of Fall Leaves and a fountain all in one. I can kill two birds with one stone as the saying goes.

Nut House

Today is Sunday morning and everybody in home today in the house. It it still early in the morning but I can tell you that it will not be a quiet day here. The three year old is running through the house screaming and his Mother and before long she will be screaming back at him. The baby is just being a loud baby and the other three are just being typical 8 and 9 year olds. I guess the biggest thing to deal with here is the three year old. I have never in my life seen a child like him. My husband and I have worked with hundreds of children over the years and never have I seen any of them like him. He will sit and hit himself in the head, he hits all of the other kids in the house. He destroys everything his mother buys him in a matter of seconds. He is an absolute terror by day and by night.

Check Mate

I have always wanted to learn to play chess, but since I don't know anybody who knows how to play the game I never pursued getting a chess set. I really think it would be a lot of fun to play the game but it is one of those things that you can't do alone.

Now I have found a site where you can Play Chess Online this way you can actually learn the game and not have the investment of a chess set and always needing to find someone to play the game with you. On line you can actually save your game and watch it later and that way you can learn from your own mistakes. I think I have just found my next hobby I am going to learn how to play Chess. I really think I might be pretty good at it. I am a very anilitical typer person, which I think should help in the game. If I talk about this in later posts you will know I have learned the game and I want to brag on myself.

Getting Ready

Thanksgiving is this next Thursday. I think we just threw something fuzzy looking out of the fridge not too long ago from last Thanksgiving. I'm just joking... we clean the fridge out much more often than that like when you can no longer squeeze a grape into it then we clean it out.

Here is our Menu for Turkey Day
  1. Turkey (Duh?)
  2. Dressing (Uck)
  3. Gravy (Yum)
  4. Mashed Potatoes (not to bad)
  5. Baked Macaroni and Cheese (Double Yum)
  6. Home made Noodles (Double Yum)
  7. Green Bean Casserole (Uck)
  8. Corn Casserole (Uck)
  9. Scalloped Cabbage ( Double Uck)
  10. Sweet Potatoes (Uck)
  11. Hot Rolls (Yum)
  12. Pie, Pie, Pie (Yum, Yum, Yum)
Ok I think that is just about all we make for diner guess you can tell like I have said before that I don't do veggies. This year we also added a Ham to the menu cause the biggest turkey I could locate was 20 pounds. I usually do at least a 24 pounder but guess there has been a big diet fad going on this last year with the turkey's cause some of them looked anorexic to me. I have seen bigger chickens than some of the turkey's in the store this year.

State of Mind

You Know Your States

You got 9/10 correct.

You've got a pretty good handle on US geography.
There's a good chance you've visited at least a dozen of the fifty states.
How Well Do You Know Your States?

I have visited at least 30 of the states or at least passed through them on my way someplace else. I will list the states that I have actually lived in.
  1. Indiana (Born there)
  2. Florida (too many times)
  3. Tennessee (2 times)
  4. North Dakota (2 times)
  5. Texas
  6. Pennsylvania (2 times)
  7. Plus I have lived in the Nation of Haiti

Thousand Pounds

I have a real good friend that has been on diets most of the time I have know her which has been well over 30 years. She would say all of the time that she has gained and lost over a thousand pounds with all of the diets she has tried. She has done the cabbage soup diet and Lord only knows what else. But she is thinking about having the lap band spring, TX surgery. I really do believe this just might be the answer to her weight problems that she has had for so many years. This surgical center is totally designed for the patient's comfort and it is good to know that if the need ever arises that this surgery is completely reversible.

Wit's End

I am here to tell you that today I just about lost my cool totally with one of my grandsons. I will call him "Z" he has a terrible problem with his temper. His Poppy asked him to do something when he got home from school and he started talking back. I went downstairs and retrieved him to try to salvage his evening (he was about to be sent to bed at 4:30 PM) So after getting him upstairs I asked him to sit on the edge of the bed and think about his attitude. With that simple request he threw himself on the bed and he makes this God awful noise. We call it the cow sound. I was about to throw him from the upstairs window so I told him to go to the hall and to please stop making the noise. Well about 20 minutes later he finally stopped and when we asked him what the problem was he says. I don't know. We are really at the end of our rope with him and do not know what to do. When you get onto him for something he will jump up and down and say no, no, no. We have spanked him, put him in the corner, yelled at him. talked calmly to him. Nothing seems to work. If the neighbors were to hear him they would think we were beating him and actually no one is touching him at all. All I know is I am way too old for this. Find me a room with padded walls I think that will help and I don't mean for him I mean for me.

Let the Shopping Begin

Next week is Thanksgiving, and then you know what is just around the corner from that. Yeah that is right Christmas is coming and so is that fat man in the red suit. I can't believe it that we are a little over a month away from Christmas and I have nothing bought for anybody. I keep telling myself every year that I am not going to wait until the last minute to shop and then before you know it I look at the calendar and it is December 24th and I am in the mall running from store to store like a crazy wild woman. I never know what I am going to get anybody and I am one of those people that will not just run in and grab the first thing inside the store. I believe that every gift should be special and something I really believe the person I am purchasing it for would actually like to have. Here are the Top 10 Christmas Gifts for you to get your family, friends and co-workers. These gifts are guaranteed to please even the grumpiest Scrooge on your list. I really believe that my Mother was the easiest person to shop for in the world. You could have given her a bag of cow poop and she would have said "Oh this is just what I have needed for my rose bushes." I have found the perfect gift,it is Luxury chocolate gifts from France with free shipping from zChocolate. I really believe this is a must gift especially for.... ME! OK, I know I am not supposed to shop for my own Christmas presents. But come on who knows what I want for Christmas more than I do?

Out to Lunch

Well, we went out to our free lunch and it wasn't the bad experience I had prepared myself for. I had a steak and French Fries. That is something that I am always happy with as long as they don't do anything funky to it. This is an Italian Restaurant and I am not much for all of the Italian type foods. I am a meat and potatoes kind of girl. But, thankfully Joy (my daughter) tool care of me. You got the choice of three meals per table and there were different choices per table. But, she managed go slip me the one that had the steak on it. Then you were allowed 1 desert per table. So we took the chocolate cake and the three adults split it. I am here to tell you that I really don't believe that I could have eaten the entire piece by myself. The third of a piece that I had was plenty enough for me.

Searching for a White Christmas

We are thinking about going away for the Christmas holidays and are in the process of trying to find a someplace to stay. We have checked into several hotels and motel type facilities. But, now come on there are going to be 10 of us 5 adults and 5 children. I just can't see all of us in a hotel room or even two hotel rooms so now have decided we are going to check into
Luxury Holiday Apartments. This way we can have an entire apartment where we can have space to get away from each other when we are about ready to kill a small child or two. We can actually have 3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, off street parking and all of the amenities of home. But we don't have to do the daily cleaning that we have to do at home. I really think this is the route to go. You can have satellite TV and music center where we can all during the evening relax and chill out from the day's activities.

Now all we have to do is decide where we want to go and what we want to do when we get there. My grandchildren have never seen snow so I think we might just try to find someplace where there will hopefully be a White Christmas. It has actually been quite a while since I have had a White Christmas myself so I think that will be our Goal.

I Don't fit the mold

Well tomorrow we are going to have lunch at the restaurant that my daughter works for. It is the grand opening for a new restaurant and this is the week that they do free meals for friends and family. If you know anything about me you know one thing I am a picky eater. I use the term Picky very loosely because I eat no vegetables at all. Well I do eat potatoes which are technically in the veggie category but other than that nothing else. So back to the restaurant we thought we were going to be able to pick any item from the menu. Now I am learning that we will be given three choices to choose from and that I won't like any of them. So I ask you why am I going? To tell you the truth I have no earthly idea. I have said I don't want to go and look like an idiot. I realize that my eating habits are my choice and nobody makes me eat the way I do. I have never eaten veggies in my whole life. As a kid I lived on PB&J sandwiches, my parents would try to make me eat veggies and I would sit and stare at my plate for several hours until they would come and throw them out. But I just don't feel like going to a restaurant tomorrow and sitting there while everyone around me is eating and I am sitting there looking like an idiot. So what to do? I have no earthly idea. Guess that idiot sitting there tomorrow will be me. This is my view on my life today. Sometimes life just sucks big time.

Pass the hot sauce

The other night as we were eating dinner. I had made two huge pans of my favorite Beef Noodle Soup. I made homemade noodles and had a table full of them. It is basically an all day job to make this soup if you do it right and you have to otherwise it just doesn't taste as good. So yes I did the all day plan. Well, we were sitting there eating and I always have put hot sauce in my bowl of soup since I was a child. My granddaughter is following in my footsteps in this hot sauce matter. So she fixed her bowl of soup and started eating. I was also trying to feed the baby at the same time I was eating so I was a bit slower than my granddaughter. Well I picked up the bottle of hot sauce and gave it the customary shake to mix it up and..... The afore mentioned granddaughter had not put the cap all the way back onto the bottle just sat it on top. Needless to say when I finished shaking it she and I both looked like we had the measles. Thank God none of it got into her eyes but it was close. So after 3 washings my t-shirt I had on still has the faint trace of hot sauce on the front of it. Guess it gives me something to remember the favorite granddaughter by. (Oh, she is also my only granddaughter)

School Daze

Randy and I are thinking about moving out of Florida. We have moved out of the state several times and for some crazy reason we always move back to Florida. I have no idea why because to tell you the truth we neither one like living in Florida. I know it is crazy you don't have to tell me that. So, we are thinking about moving back up north we both really miss the change of seasons for one thing.

I have had the desire to go back to school for quite a while. I took an accounting class a couple of years ago and I really enjoyed it. I was scared at first but after I aced my first test I was really into it. So if we move back up north I think I will look into an Illinois College that is if we move to that area. I have been really interested in the last few years of looking into studying Computer Networking. I think it would be cool to go to a Chicago College. Westwood College has a beautiful campus in Calumet City which dates back to 1892 and would have more of a small town feel to it. I think that campus would be my choice. That is if I actually think they can teach old dogs new tricks. Ya just never know I just may actually some day become a college co-ed.

Killing off my favorite characters

OK, now I am really getting upset. It seems like this is the season to kill off some of my favorite characters in my favorite TV programs. Last week on The Unit they killed off one of the regular actors in like the last 30 seconds of the program. I was really shocked when it happened and had I blinked at the precise instant I would have missed it. It was that quick. Then tonight on Criminal Minds they killed off Garcia. She is absolutely one of my favorites because she is really quirky and this one happened in like the last absolute second. I never had the faintest idea that it was going to happen. I had red the preview on Yahoo TV and it said something about Garcia going on a date and it ending unexpectedly but never in my wildest dreams did I see it coming. OK, I know if you are reading this you are telling me to get a lift and you are right. But, for me right now I have no life to speak of and watching my favorite programs is just about it. So let me wallow in my grief for a bit.

TV Night

Tonight is one of my favorite TV viewing nights. Tonight is Criminal Minds and CSI New York. I really love both of these shows. I don't know why cause usually Criminal Minds grosses me out and tonight is no exception. They have a serial killer going around killing women. Which in itself is not so strange but before he kills the women he feeds them 10 fingers that have been cut off. But then the really gross thing is that none of the 10 fingers come from the same woman or the woman that was just found dead. UCK!! Glad this show comes on after I have already eaten supper cause I wouldn't be hungry now that is for sure.

Play Ball!

I have never been to a Chicago Cubs Spring Training but, living in Central Florida I know all about spring training. We have major league baseball teams all around us during Spring Training. I would absolutely love beyond measure to attend a Chicago Cubs game. My husband and I have lived all over the United States and you never know sometime we just might find ourselves living n Mesa Arizona and we will just pick up a couple of Chicago Cubs Spring Training Tickets. I have been a baseball fan ever since I was a child. We lived in Southern Indiana and my dad would take us to St. Louis to see the Cardinals play. We would go there for the entire weekend and I remember at least once where we were on the bridge coming home on Sunday and we begged and begged and my Dad turned around and went back into St. Louis and we got to see another game. Now that was fun. I don't have a lot of fun memories as a child but that is one I can remember and guess that is why baseball has always enjoyable for me.

Saga of the three year old continues

Well, the saga of the three year old in the house just never ends. Let me see where do I begin today's activities. Let's see, this morning he pooped in his pants and I am telling you that there is no mother in the world that could have loved him through that ordeal. We had to put him in the shower to get him cleaned up. Then he was sitting outside my room in the hall and I noticed that he was crying but not making any noise. I asked him what was wrong and he told me his nose hurt. I asked him why it hurt and he said it had something in it. We after finally getting him to blow his nose out came a cinnamon tic tac. I guess it was melting up there and the cinnamon was burning the inside of his nose. We are really beginning to believe that he maybe has something like ADHD wrong with him. I mean it is always something. He sits and will just hit himself in the head and bite himself from time to time. I really don't know how his mother is ever going to control him whenever she is on her own and not living with a house full of adults.

Clip Clip

I am learning to change some of my lifestyle. I used to go shopping and pretty much buy what I wanted. I very rarely ever used a coupon unless it was already on the item at the grocery store that I was buying. Then I would pull the coupon off and use it. Now it is so easy to do you can go online and find a Coupon for a particular merchant and use it right then and there. They update the site on a daily basis and make it very easy to find a particular merchant you are looking for. For instance I could shop at the Disney deals for my grandchildren. Plus I found one of my favorite merchants and they always have the best gift items. I can get a Lillian Vernon Coupon for anything from money off my purchase to saving on my shipping costs. How easy can they make it? I no longer have to rummage through the junk drawer to find the scissors and spend time cutting and sorting coupons only to get to the store and remember that I left them home somewhere. Now I just get a coupon code and enter it online and I have saved money.

Your Native American Name

Your Native American Name Is...

Keegsquaw Alawa

Your name means: Virgin Pea

I am not sure whether this should be my Native American name and just exactly what is a "Virgin Pea"? But I am actually really part Native American my grandfather on my Mother's side was a full blooded Cherokee Indian so I guess that would make me 1/4 for what that is worth. Guess with that and $1.00 I can get a Diet Pepsi from the soda machine when I go to the store.

Let the games begin

My grandchildren are wanting video games for Christmas. I have check them out at the local toy store and almost has sticker shock over the prices. I have found a site online that sells sells Nintendo NES used Consoles and Games. They sell used vintage video games, the Nintendo NES and the used NES console, you can get all of the accessories and games you would ever want. I think this just might be where I will do some of the Christmas shopping. This is a year that cash is kind of short for us so I have to make every dollar count. As my dad used to say I will have to squeeze the nickel until the buffalo bellows. For any of you youngsters out there that don't know what I mean by that there used to be nickels years ago that had a buffalo on the front of them hence the phrase squeeze the nickel until the buffalo bellows. But, I just got off track let me get back to my thoughts from before. Check this site out they have everything and the prices are much better than the retail stores.

I'll have a Blue Blue Monday

Well it is Monday somehow this day always seems to arrive after Sunday. Guess it is supposed to but I would really like to sometime just for fun skip Monday and go on to Tuesday. But, I guess then that would just make Tuesday suck like Monday does so why ruin a good day just by changing the calendar. But the kids are back in school today they missed school on Friday. My daughter kept them home because their great grandpa passed away in the hospice center. They called here shortly after 5:00 AM to inform us of his passing, so my daughter said she just didn't have it in her to get the kids up and dress all three of them. Life would have been quieter if she had but she didn't so we had them all home plus the other 2 in the house. They had a 3 day weekend. If I thought that was crazy I just realized they have school this week and then next week they will be out for Thanksgiving holiday? Yipee!! There will be 5 kids all in this house for 9 days straight. Sure wish I drank, I don't however, this might just be a good week to start.

Here's to good Health

I really need to do something to get my husband and I some health insurance so I need to get some quotes on Family Insurance Policies but it can be a nightmare if you don't have the information you need to accomplish this. I know there are good insurance plans out there but I also am smart enough to know there are plans out there that all the really do is take your premium and you get very little in return. You have to be a smart consumer no matter what you are shopping for.

Finding the right medical care doesn't have to be that hard when you have the proper tools and you can find somebody to actually do the shopping for you and they can compare premiums and benefits and tell you exactly what you get for your money. Finding the Healthcare Insurance that is the best for your individual needs is no longer a nightmare. This is a good thing for me cause I hate doing things that take me forever to accomplish only to find out when I get to the final stage that I still don't know anymore than when I started. I may just wind up with the health insurance that I am needing and won't have a nervous breakdown in the process.

Painting the bathroom

Well the 3 year old has struck again. His mother put a lock on her bathroom door after he has managed to shave part of his hair with her razor and then he got the scissors and cut some things up in her closet on night while she slept. But, tonight I guess she put him to bed and went out to the front porch to smoke and he got a bottle of nail polish and managed to polish himself, the toilet, bathroom walls and his brand new jacket that she just bought him this week and he has never worn as of yet. I am telling you there is nothing that this kid will not do. I have never seen a child as destructive as him. It is really scary everything she buys him he intentionally destroys and then has the nerve to show you what he did. He gets spanked and he gets set in the corner and you try to talk to him and nothing seems to work. But I know that as he gets older she is really going to have some big problems with him if she doesn't get him straightened out. I have now seen the painting project he has nail polish on two of the bathroom walls which will not come off, in both sides of the closet door on the carpet in the closet, all over the light switch in the closet and on his PJ's. I am telling you this 3 year old child is headed for major trouble as he grows up. It is really kind of scary to tell you the truth.

Digging out

I have a friend who is in over her eyeballs in debt. The sad thing is that she doesn't even realize or at least admit that she is in as bad financial shape as she is. To be honest I don't know how she goes from day to day and just gets deeper and deeper in debt. Just not to long ago she actually got a new credit card somehow and now I think that she has it maxed out as well. I would love to convince her that she needs some credit counseling. But as of yet have not gotten her to admit that she has a problem. I do realize that you need to be careful when you try to get help with your credit card problems. Because not everyone out there is really wanting to actually help you get out of debt. Some of them will actually put you further into debt. But I found some good information that gives you a Debt Management Guide. Knowledge is power and the more knowledge you have about your situation the better off you are. I realize that debt is something that just seems to snowball on you. Before you realize it you have dug a hole and there seems to be no way out. I have been there you never seem to have enough money and then when you do get some money it is never enough. But there is always hope and a way out of your situation. My advise is to just sit down and work out a reasonable budget and try your very best to stick to it. It may mean doing without a lot of the extras you are used to having but when it is all over and you have yourself out of debt. You will then have money for those extras that you want. This is a site that can really help you dig out of the hole and put a stop to creditor harassment.

Coffee Time

The other day the 16 month old in the house got a cup of coffee sitting on the living room table. (it wasn't hot) but she tried to drink it and wound up with more on her and the floor than in her. Well today she decided to go hard core and she got one of the used coffee pods from my daughters coffee pot and chewed into it and had coffee grounds all over her face and mouth. Guess drinking coffee wasn't good enough for her she thought eating the grounds would have more of a caffeine fix. Just means we got to keep a close eye on her I keep telling her that coffee will stunt her growth.

Make Over

I am here to tell you that we need to do something with our garage floor. It is a pretty new floor and to keep from having those horrible stains that you wind up with all over it. We are going to check out giving our garage floor a whole new look. We are thinking about checking out having a real cool pattern put on your garage flooring . They can actually give you just about any pattern that you can imagine. This is so cool. You just have to check it out.

Boy oh Boy does this have me down to a tee. I am only 4 miles from Loony-Bin Lane. To tell you the truth I thought I had already reached it but maybe I did and somehow did a U-turn and I am coming back for a second trip through.

It scares you

I remember my favorite Steven King movie it was simply called It. Believe me It scared the wits out of my daughters. We all watched it one night and every that crazy clown came up out of the sewer my daughters would get closer and closer to me. By the time the movie was over I actually think they were both just about in my lap. But I loved it. Their dad always liked to watch scary movies with them because at just about the moment when you knew something was going to happen but didn't know what he would do something to make the girls jump out of their skin.

If you are into Steven King movies and books like I am you have got to go see this The Mist by Stephen King and watch the movie trailer. I am telling you here in Florida we go through a season if you want to call it that where we get a lot of fog. The next "season of fog" I just might look at it a little differently than I have ever before. So next time you get caught in a fog be careful. You just never know what might be lurking in there.

Now I am really talking Chilly

Ok, I thought I was chilly earlier in the evening. Now that it is 56 degrees I have really passed chilly. I dug through my dresser drawers and found a thin type long john top that I bought several years ago and never opened up. Well I have not only opened that puppy open I have it on and I am covered up with one throw cover and have my big warm cover wrapped around my shoulders. My grandchildren will think they are freezing in the morning. They were born in Florida so they are very cold natured. So in the morning they will have their warm jackets on and will still think they are going to freeze to death. At least their Mom will drive them to the bus stop so they won't get out of the car until the bus actually arrives. Maybe they will not be three frozen fudge cycle.

A Temporary Fix

I can remember once when I lost a filling out of one of my back teeth. I was in a restaurant and I knew it was in my mouth but we were with several friends and everyone was talking. There I sat at the table with this filling in my mouth trying not to swallow it along with the food in my mouth. I was also trying at the same time to figure out how to get it out of my mouth without everyone knowing what was going on. When I finally managed to get the filling out of my mouth with no undue attention on my actions. I decided to take a drink of my iced tea. You heard me right I said iced tea well now my problem became the pain that went from my mouth straight up through the top of my head and I think blew a hole in the ceiling. I was in desperate need of temporary dental repair but at that time, nothing like that existed.

If there had only been something back then like Dentemp OS which could have taken care of the problem in 60 minutes I could have avoided all of the pain and the embarrassment. Thankfully the twenty first century brings modern medicine and we're able to tackle a lot of life's problems without the discomfort of having to wait for medical intervention.

I'm gonna get chilly

Well I think that the cool weather is now here and every warm thing I have is in a storage warehouse. I put things away when we made our move to Haiti and now that we are back. Well... I think you get the picture. My warmer clothes are somewhere in a box somewhere in a storage warehouse. So guess who is gonna be kinds of chilly until they can find things they need? You guessed it ME. Sorry you don't actually win anything but you win anyway.

Check it out

If you find yourself in a position where you have a project and time is of the essence then you need to check out this site called project management blog. I mean you can find out "How to succeed when Projects are failing" and many other topics can be found there. This is a great site to check out.

Why am I here anyway?

I am sitting here trying to think of something that I could post and my mind is a total blank. It seems like since we have come back from Haiti I have turned into a vegetable. I am not a productive person at all anymore. I don't seem to have any purpose for my existence. I have no job right now because we have no transportation to get me to and from to work. So with no transportation comes no job and with no job comes no money and with no money comes with well nothing. I have heard it said before that money is not the most important thing in life but it is way ahead of whatever is in second place. Well, I am beginning to think there is some truth in that. I used to love to do counted cross stitch. I could sit for hours in the evening and work on making something I thought was beautiful out of just a plain white piece of cross stitch material. I once worked on a piece called "Rural America" for two years off and on. I would threaten to throw it out because it was such a big project, so I would lay it aside for a few days and do something else that only required a day or two and then would go back to the big project. When I finally finished it I found an old frame made out of very old barn wood and framed it in that and it became my masterpiece. So much for that because right now that "masterpiece" is in a storage warehouse that we don't have the money to pay for today so we will be locked out of it until it gets paid for. That will happen because our oldest daughter is taking care of it for us. I don't know what we would do without her. There is not a day that goes by that I don't cry lately because children should not take care of their parents... parents should take care of their children. But that is not the case right now. So guess I just need to learn to deal with it until things change for us. I guess it is so hard because I started working for the things I wanted (not needed) when I was 16 years old and I have worked pretty much ever since that with time off for babies. But now that is not an option for me. I can remember when I would go and buy several cross stitch books at a time and then decide if I really deemed them a worthy pattern to make. Now I would give anything to be able to go and purchase a good pattern, material, thread and everything necessary to make something. I used to do my counted cross stitch as a way of retaining my sanity. In the hard times it really used to help me keep my mind off the problems for a while and now I really think it would help again. But, oh well guess it is not in the picture for me right now. So maybe I will just lose my sanity or who knows maybe I already have and just don't know it yet. Ya Never Know.

Midhight Hour

Well it is midnight and I am sitting here and most of the house is asleep so all is quiet. It is a good thing to have everything quiet for a change. There isn't a lot of quiet in the house. I miss having just a quiet evening alone but then I also love being around my grandchildren. Just have to figure out which I love most quiet or grandchildren cause I can't have both. So I think the grandchildren win.

Black is good

Well it won't be long and the jolly ole fat man himself will be coming to a neighborhood near you and if you have been good he will be coming to see you too. I keep telling myself that I am going to start my Christmas shopping early in the year but I aways put it off until the man in the red suit is just about ready to come to my house then I am madly shopping. There have been many years when the tape is barely stuck to the packages when my girls have been ripping it off.

This year is going to be different for me. No I didn't get started during the summer like I have tried to say in the past that I was going to do. But this year I am going to start at the latest by black friday. I do not intend in getting up at the crack of dawn and going to stand in line at 5:00 AM either. I am going to have a plan this year. I am going to get my favorite stores to e-mail notices on the great sales they have. Now I am talking about sitting back and putting my feet up and letting the internet do my work for me. I will be waiting especially for my e-mail alert from Toys R Us I know without a doubt that I can find plenty of things there that the kids would just love to have under the tree on Christmas morning.

Sanity day

Yesterday we decided to load everybody in the house up (it takes 2 cars) and go to a nearby park for a picnic. First we got up early and the girls fixed breakfast for everyone. We had pancakes, eggs and sausage it was delicious if you ask me which come to think of nobody did but oh well it was nevertheless. Then they started getting things ready for the picnic. They made a big bowl of tuna salad and we had turkey and ham for sandwiches plus chips and drinks and off we went to the park. The kids had a ball they ran and rolled down the hill in the sand and then there is a huge playground which is like a pirate ship with slides, swings and all sorts of walkways for them to play on. They ran themselves ragged and when we got ready to go, they not only had to pour the sand out of their shoes but the boys actually had pockets full of sand. But at the end of the day a good time was had by all and that is all that matters. Then it was home and into the tub for their baths so they could get up all nice and clean this morning for school and we do the week all over again. Ah such is life.

Make life easier

My daughter as you know has 3 children and you know how expensive and what a major headache that is when it comes to taking them to the dentist and filling out all of those lengthy insurance forms. I have found a place for her to check out discount dental plans where things would be easier for her to handle with the three of them. I just did a quick check for her and within 20 miles of her there are 133 participating dentist listings. That to me is a lot of choices for her to choose from.

They have on their site a beginner's guide which will answer a lot of questions that you have as to why you would want to join the discount dental plans. The way the plan works is that the dentists that have joined these plans have agreed to take a specific amount for their different services which is discounted from their regular fees. With these plans you can actually save 10 to 60% on most dental procedures. Plus something that really a plus when you have three children is you have absolutely no insurance forms to fill out when you go with one of their plans.

If you were Born 1930 - 1979 Ya gotta read this

This is something that I received a while back and I can't believe how many of the things I actually remember. It really is a blast from the past to check off each item and say yeah I remember that and that and that. When I was a kid we never got to come in and out of the house if we wanted a drink my Mom would just say turn the hose on and get one there. As far as playing outside until the street lights came on, my Dad would always stick his head outside the back door and whistle through his teeth. He knew that I could hear that whistle anywhere in the neighborhood and I only had a very short window of time that I better be running home and in the back door for the night. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

READ TO THE BOTTOM FOR QUOTE OF THE MONTH BY JAY LENO IF YOU DON'T READ ANYTHING ELSE----VERY WELL STATED.

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE
1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we
rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.
As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and

NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank koolade made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day.

And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down
the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's,
no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms.......
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no

lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,

made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang

the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.

They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO

DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them . .
CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as
kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives

for our own good.

And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:

"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, "Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"
